2012 Miles – Day 58

2012 Miles – Day 58 by skybluecal at Garmin Connect – Details.

A 6 mile recovery run on the treadmill, a bit further than I thought possible, so I am pleased with this today.  I was really stiff and sore this morning but I knew I had to do some sort of run to get the legs moving.  I figured heading to the gym and doing a couple of miles on the tredmill was the best option.

The funny thing was that after the painful first couple of miles I could feel my legs getting looser and looser with every mile.  I stopped at 6 miles because, quite frankly, I was bored! I probably could have done a bit more but I think 6 was more than enough for today.  I spent half an hour stretching afterwards too and now my legs are feeling quite a bit better, so I hope to get a good few miles in tomorrow night.

My race pack arrived today for the Llanelli Half Marathon on Sunday – which starts at 9:00!  So it is going to be a stupidly early start for us to travel down there in good time for the start.  I have never known such an early start for a half marathon, and it is in complete contrast to the 12:00 start for the Silverstone Half the following Sunday.

I have just booked my hotel in Northampton for that and hopefully I plan to visit friends and family in Coventry on the Saturday then head to Northampton later in the day.   Racing season is truly upon us and I can’t wait to get started now.
